Emergency Assistance (PRC)
Description of service/program:
The Medina County JFS Prevention, Retention and Contingency (PRC) program helps low-income families with children overcome immediate barriers to self-sufficiency. Provides financial assistance and job-related expense assistance to people in emergency situations. Offers utility bill payment, rent assistance for those being evicted, car repairs and other job-related expenses.
Service limitations (income, geographic, hours, etc):
Available if household is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty guideline.
- Serves households with either a pregnant woman or a minor child age 18 or under.
- Clients must be able to show that their current situation is a one-time emergency.
- Clients who receive Social Security, Social Security Disability, Unemployment, and/or Child Support may qualify.
A non-custodial parent may qualify for assistance.
- Funds may be used to establish utility service and to pay old balances.
- For car repairs, the client must require the car for transportation to and from work.
- For rent assistance, the client must be in danger of eviction.
