Children with Medical Handicaps (CMH)

Description of service/program:

CMH (formerly BCMH) is a program that helps children with special healthcare needs by providing a safety net and may assist with obtaining payment for approved services by approved providers. Services include those provided on the Diagnostic program along with services related to each child’s medical condition.

Services provided could include:

Medications

Medical supplies

Surgeries

Medical equipment

Therapies

A local public health nurse skilled in working with children with special healthcare needs and their families will provide case management services, help a family find local resources, help families find approved providers, and help with completing needed paperwork.

Service limitations (income, geographic, hours, etc):

Children who are Ohio residents from birth to age 21 are eligible for the program. Children must have a medically eligible condition, see an approved managing physician at least once a year, and be financially eligible.
